PANJIM: M. Barath, WCM Krystal and Riddhi Zantye concluded their campaign amongst the prize list when the curtains were drawn on the last round of the National U-11 Open and Girls Chess Championship 2013 held at Delhi.
M Barath finished in 12th position while WCM Krystal Fernandes notched the 8th place in the prize list. Both had the opportunity to win the medal for Goa.
However, as luck would have it they went down to FM Arvind Ram of Tamil Nadu and Vantika Agrawal of Delhi in the final round to remain on 8 points and 7.5 points respectively.
Meanwhile, Riddhi Zantye too scored 7.5 points defeating Shyamashee Sarkar of West Bengal to finish 12th in the prize list.
Other Goan players that competed at the Nationals were Anirudh Parsekar finishing on 6.5 points, while Sahil Shetty managed 5.5 points. Swera Braganza and Faiziya Khan settled on 6.5 points.
