BANDORA: Bardez Veterans blanked Panjim Veterans 3-0 to enter the finals of all-Goa Veterans soccer tournament organised by Ponda Veterans Club in association with Dr. Ketan Bhatikar’s rehalibation Center, played at Dayanand Bandodkar ground, Bandora, on Wednesday.
In the 10th minute, Bardez took the lead when Panjim failed to clear the ball inside their danger zone and Shailesh pulled his trigger and took a power-packed shot and scored.
In the 18th minute, Bardez nearly doubled their lead when Allwyn’s power shot was saved by Panjim keeper John.
In the second half, Panjim’s Pascoal Perreira nearly equalised when his pile driver shot from top of box was saved by keeper Domnic with a diving effort. Minutes later, Lawrence cut past two defenders and released a diagonal pass to Alex who easily scored to make it 2-0.
In the 40th minute, Ramesh released a through pass to Pascoal whose shot was punched away to safety by the rival keeper. In the 56th minute, Allwyn scored with a powerful header from a cross to make it 3-0.
The finals will be played between Bardez Veterans and host Ponda Veterans.
