RAIA: The penultimate day of the U-13 and U-15 basketball tournament for boys and girls organised to commemorate the 50 years jubilee celebrations of Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, saw all semi-finals action in the U-15 category.
The first match set the tone for the day with Fatima Convent High School squaring off against Sharda Mandir School, Panjim.
In a tough end to end battle, Sharda Mandir School finally managed to pip the Fatima Convent High School team 17-14. Amie with 10 points shined for the winners, while Winoshka with 11 fought a lone battle for the Fatima Convent HS team.
The second semi-final proved to be a slightly one sided affair. With the Lourdes Basketball Club proving to be no match for the bigger and faster Sonics team. Sonics ran out comfortable winners 32-11 with Keiya doing the bulk of the scoring for the winners, while Kaveri scored 7 points for the losing team.
In the first boys’ semi-final, was an all-Margao affair, with the home team Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, getting their act together to outplay Loyola High School 33-9. Sean with 18 and David with 5 points led the home team, while Richie with 4 points played well for the losing side.
The last game of the night proved to be another close game, with Sonic only just pulling away in the last quarter, ultimately beating Euro Nation 25-15. Roy and Daniel each scored 10 points for the winning team, while Ulysse with 10 points kept things interesting for the losing team.
On Wednesday, the finals in all categories will start from 4 pm.
