RAIA: Host Batora United got the better of Madel Sports Club, 2-0, to enter into the quarterfinals of Batora United 9-a-side football tournament, organised by Batora United and played at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.
The match began with both teams showing promise, creating equal opportunities to score in the first half, but neither side could capitalise, leaving the score 0-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Batora United was awarded a penalty, which Shoun Dias successfully converted. Madel Sports Club quickly regrouped and launched several attacks, but Batora United’s defense remained resolute, denying any chances. Batora United then extended their lead with a goal from Velenko, sealing Madel Sports Club’s fate.
Valenko of Batora United was adjudged as man-of-the-match presented by Peter Fernandes, club member.
