MAPUSA: Goa started their campaign in the 37th National Games Beach Football Group B, on a winning note as they humbled Odisha by12-3 margin at Colva beach, on Saturday.
Happy days are here again stated Laxman Hadfadkar, Goa Football Association’s (GFA) Executive Member and Manager of Goa Beach football team for the wonderful display by the Goan lads. Kashinath Rathod (4), and skipper Pedro Gonsalves (4) stole the limelight scoring eight goals among them. Carl D’Souza, Nehal Parab, Richard Cardoz and Satish Naik added their names to the scorers list. Subhash Pujari (2) and Babul Singh scored for Odisha. Goa coach Bruno Coutinho praised Joshua who was a rock in the defence and Pedro Gonsalves and Kashinath Rathod for their creative play and ball control.
All India Football Federation President Kalyan Chaubey, GFA’s President Dr Caietano Fernandes and Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas were present for the match. In the earlier matches, Lakshadweep defeat Delhi by 9-3 margin, while Kerala drubbed Jharkhand by 16-1 margin.
