VASCO: Dempo Sports Club outclassed Kenkre Football Club 4-0 in the Second Division I-League (Western Conference), at Tilak Maidan, on Sunday.
Strikers Beevan D’Mello and Milagres Gonsalves scored a brace and an assist each.
Dempo SC dominated and surged ahead in the ninth minute through Milagres after being fed by Beevan with a low cross from the left flank.
They doubled their lead in the 27th minute as Milagres crossed in an aerial ball for Beevan for a simple tap in to make it 2-0.
Dempo SC further inflated their lead in the 35th minute through Beevan off a Jewel Raja free-kick as they led 3-0 at the break.
Post resumption, Dempo SC took control of the ball possession and were denied by the post on two occasions. First, Jewel’s shot hit the crossbar and soon it was Nickson Castanha’s effort that beat the entire defence but only to see his shot denied by the upright.
Kenkre FC had an golden opportunity to reduce the margin in 64th minute but Yao Bernard’s low shot beat the keeper but came off the post back into the play.
Dempo SC were forced to play the last 22 minutes with 10-men as Jewel was given marching orders in the 67th minute when the latter kicked Kenkre FC player Yash after he was tripped.
The Mumbai based team piled up pressure on the host but couldn’t penetrate the stubborn Dempo SC defence.
However, at the other end, Milagres scored the fourth goal of the day in the dying minutes of the match with a neat placement after dribbling past the Kenkre FC defence.
Kenkre’s Yash Mahatre was also sent off for double bookings in the add-on time.
