PANJIM: A fine hat-trick by Beevan D’Mello and a goal each from Felix Odili Chidi and Mohammad Ali helped Dempo Sports Club humble Guardian Angel Sports Club by a resounding 5-0 win, in the Goa Pro League match, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Thursday.
The young Guardian Angel side were no match to their mighty rivals who went into the breather with a two goal lead with Nigerian import Felix Odili Chidi scoring in the 38th minute of play while Beevan D’Mello made it 2-0 in the 41st minute of play.
The Golden Eagles got into the offensive play right from the very start of the match, where, in the 4th minute of play Assumption Soares charged into the rival citadel and unleashed a powerful strike which was brilliantly kept away by Savordem stopper back Rahul Kumar.
Couple of minutes into the match, Dempo SC once again attacked their rivals but keeper Ram Sroop did well to first push away Assumption Soares’s strike at the goal and then thwart Mario Mascarenhas from scoring from close range.
Dempo coach further bolstered his attack with the introduction of German Preet Singh into the half line.
The move paid dividends as German Preet sent a defence splitting pass to Felix Odili Chidi who made no mistake in putting his side into the lead to make it 1-0.
Boosted by the goal, Dempo SC doubled the lead three minutes later when Beevan D’Mello rose high above his marker to nod in Mario Mascarenhas cross.
Crossing over, the Golden Eagles were all over the Guardian Angel SC territory and within five minutes made it 3-0 when German Preet set the ball on platter to Beevan D’Mello who slotted it past the Savordem custodian.
In the 70th minute of play Beevan netted in his hat-trick when on getting hold of the ball he made a solitary run past the Guardian Angel defenders before tapping the ball home to make it 4-0.
Savordem defender Rahul Kumar came with a fine goal line save to deny Milagres Gonsalves from scoring.
Minutes into the injury time, Mohammad Ali made it 5-0 for Dempo, giving finishing touches to Germanpreet’s cross.
