PANJIM: Benaulim defeated Navelim 3-2 in the GFDC U-13 inter-centre league, played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Monday.
It was Navelim who opened the account in the 8th minute, while Jonas Vaz equalised for the visitors in 22nd minute.
Thereafter Benaulim took a 3-1 lead in the second half, through a Wilson brace.
Navelim came back strongly and pulled a goal back to make it 2-3. towards the end reduced the score 3-2.
Benaulim are unbeaten in the last six matches.
In the 2nd match, Benaulim U-10 boys continued their unbeaten run by winning their 7th match in a row, defeating Navelim 4-3.
The match was evenly poised. Benaulim captain Klyne Fernandes accounted for all the 4 goals, while Navelim scored 3.
Navelim did try to get the equaliser but they couldn’t get past the rival defence.
The fortunes kept fluctuating, but Benaulim kept their nerves cool and came out victorious, thus ensuring their qualification to the next round.
