MAPUSA: Benny XI registered a hard fought 3-2 win over Saligao United Sports Club in the GFA’s Third Division League, at Chapora YS ground, here, on Monday.
It was a well contested encounter where Benny XI colts went into the breather with a 2-1 lead.
Manthan Parwar and Michael Dias scored for Benny XI while Taivan Travasso pulled a goal in the first half for Saligao United to make it 2-1.
On crossing over, Saligao United levelled terms through the boots of Chandrakant Kerkar.
In the 90th minute, when it looked the teams were heading for a draw, Baggio Monteiro scored the match winning goal to give full points for his team to make it 3-2.
Margao Sports Club defeated Enfermos Sports Club 8-0 at Mandopa ground.
Savio Noronha scored a fine hat-trick for the winning side. The team had also two players who netted braces. Jerson Noronha opened the floodgates in the seventh minute.
Margao SC doubled the account in the Elroy Barreto in the 23rd minute.
Sandroy Vaz scored the third just before the break as Margao led 3-0 at the break.
Sandroy scored his brace in the 51st minute and Margao netted their fifth in the Elroy Barreto.
Finally in the last half hour, Savio Noronha was the star player for Margao as the lad scored three goals to take the final tally to 8-0.
In another match at Tilamola ground, United Boys of Ambaulim recorded an easy 8-3 win over Uguem Rising Club.
Uguem Rising Clube were the first to take the lead in the first minute itself through Lawren Fernandes. But Alex Fernandes was quick with his response as he scored two goals for Ambaulim. Royson Cardozo and Assis Dias scored two more goals for the winners before K Pereira pulled another goal back for the losing side to make it 2-4.
In the second half, Alex completed his hat-trick before scoring his fourth. Assis Dias scores his brace and Reuban hit the eighth for the winners.
Clive Gomes scored the third for the losing team.At Dando Benaulim, St Sebastian Union Club and United Sports Club Seraulim played out a goalless draw.
In another match at Cavelossim ground, Carmona Sports Club scored a solitary goal win against SCS of Poitomado. Neil Dcruz scored the only goal of the game.
