Betalbatim move into quarters

Powered by a brace from striker Denzil Rogtao, Betalbatim Sporting Club outclassed Ambelim Sports Club 3-1 to storm into the quarter-finals of All-Goa Cayman Cup inter- village football tournament organized by Curtorim Gymkhana at Curtorim ground, on Sunday. Betalbatim led 1-0 at the breather.
Betalbatim set a fast pace from the outset and repeatedly raided the Ambelim goal. Betalbatim were rewarded in the 5th minute when striker Denzil unleashed a snap shot which beat the Ambelim goalkeeper after receiving a through pass from Desmond Fernandes.
Stung by the setback, Ambelim tried their best to level the score but their attacks were thwarted by the Ambelim defenders.
Changing over, Denzil doubled the lead for Betalbatim in the 43rd minute with a blistering right footer off a cross from Bradley Rogtao.
Ambelim fought back and reduced the margin in the 57th minute when Samson Fernandes unleashed a 25-yard volley which crashed into the net. Rosario Fernandes of Betalbatim rounded off the tally in the dying minutes of the game.
Conceissao Dias, panch, Curtorim VP, was the chief guest and was introduced to the teams.
