Betalbatim Sporting Club beat Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club 4-2 via the tie-breaker to cruise into the quarter-finals of 33rd Cana- Benaulim cup inter-village football tournament organised by Cana Benaulim Sporting Association at Dando ground, Benaulim on Wednesday. The teams remained goalless at the end of regulation time.
Betalbatim went on the offensive from the outset and came close in foisting the lead when Desmond Fernandes unleashed a pile driver which missed the mark narrowly.
Sao Jose de Areal put up a better display in the second half and called the shots right through but failed to find the success.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Desmond Fernandes, Joe Max Fernandes, Luis Rogtao, and Allison Fernandes were on target for Betalbatim while Mellisio Endro and Daisy Olveira found the mark for Sao Jose de Areal.
