NAVELIM: Betalbatim SC got the better of SC Davorlim 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Jose Bento Memorial trophy organised by Navelim Villagers Union, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Wednesday.
Davorlim striker Paxton Gomes dribbled past Betalbatim defender Joaquim D’Costa and shot from close range but the latter’s shot hit the Betalbatim side-netting in the fourth minute.
At the other end Betalbatim through midfielder Clifford Miranda should have netted but the latter’s shot was parried to safety by the keeper of Davorlim in the 10th minute.
Betalbatim netted two goals through Ronald Coelho with a placement shot in the 17th minute and in the 39th minute took a power-packed shot which crushed into Davorlim nylons to make it 2-0.
Four minutes later, Abhay Shetty pulled a goal back for Davorlim.
Betalbatim SC will now meet the winner of Nuvem SC and Goa Velha in the quarter-finals on November 4.
