BETALBATIM: Betalbatim SC humbled Raia SC 4-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Late Joao Francisco Pacheco Memorial football tournament organised by Betalbatim Sports Club, at Betalbatim Sports Complex, on Wednesday.
The match was evenly contested in the first half as both the teams were locked in a goalless draw.
Betalbatim SC made the move in the 4th minute through Austern Fernandes
but however his move was tackled by the rival defender Francis Vaz.
On the other end, Llyod Cardoza of Raia SC floated the ball to Allywn Dias but Frazier Rogtao of Betalbatim SC cleared the ball to safety in the 9th minute.
Crossing over, Raia SC made their move and finally found the lead they desired in the 40th minute through Jennito Pango of Jaison Gaonkar’s cross.
The joy was short lived as Betalbatim came from behind to level terms with Raia through Frazier Rogtao in the 45th minute.
Austern Fernandes stole the show as he found loop holes in the Raia’s defense scoring goals in the 50th, 60th and 62nd minute for Betalbatim SC taking his team in the quarters of the tournament.
Betalbatim SC will meet the winners of St Jose de Areal and Cortalim Villagers on August 8.
