AMBELIM: Betalbatim Sporting registered a solitary goal win over Navelim Sporting in the Lourdes Soccer tournament, at Ambelim ground, on Sunday.
Both the teams started on an attacking note but it was Navelim that had the first attempt at the goal when Climax Lawrence gave a through pass to Avlon Gomes in the goal area but the ball was cleared away by Klusner Pereira in the 10th minute.
Navelim Sporting came close to take the lead but Sheldon Pereira wasted an open chance in the 15th minute after being assisted off a pass made by Ronaldo Coelho.
Covan Lawrence was at his best as he thwarted down the moves made by Betalbatim’s Ronaldo, Klusner and Alaric D’ Cunha.
Klusner missed a header off a corner kick taken by Ronaldo Coelho. Both the teams were goalless at the break.
Post resumption, it was Dylan Rodrigues who scored the match-winner from 25 yards for Betalbatim Sporting in the 20th minute of the second half.
