RAIA: Betalbatim Veterans edged out Benaulim Veterans by solitary goal to enter the quarterfinals of 2nd Kala Mogi All-Goa Veterans football tournament and played at Betalbatim ground, on Wednesday.
Fr Franky Fernandes was star of the match with his power packed shots, assists to his teammates and also scored the lone goal for his team with a beautiful tap in far corner of Benaulim goal in 6th minutes of game, while Pele fernandes of Benaulim Veterans powerful shoot from the box missed the frame. Half time score remained 1-0 in favour of Betalbatim. In second session Charles of Benaulim Veterans missed the opportunity to level the score in 37th minutes while Rocky, Jhonson and Patrick played well for Benaulim to find the equaliser but defence of Betalbatim consisting of Niazi Shaikh, Nelson and Luis stood firm and denied equaliser.
