PANJIM: Bethany Convent High School defeated St Thomas High School, Cansaulim, 3-1, via tie-breaker to move ahead in the Independence Cup – 1st All Goa Inter-School football tournament organised by Verna Sports Club, at Verna church ground, on Tuesday.
There was no score at full time. Astroy Costa of Bethany Convent HS was awarded the man-of-the-match by former Verna Sports Club player Gabriel Ferreira.
In the second match, Fr Agnel High School, Pilar, downed Saviour of The World High School, Loutolim, 2-0. Juvenio Simoes and Vasu Redkar scored one goal each. Juvenio Simoes of Fr Agnel HS was awarded the man-of-the-match by former vice-president of Verna Sports Cup Blaise Peres.
