CHICALIM: Bethany Convent High School, Sao de Areal stormed into the final of the 3rd Baptist Fernandes, former Dempo SC player and SAG coach, memorial inter-school U-12 football tournament organised by Goa Soccer Centre at the panchayat ground, here, on Tuesday.
In the semi-final, Bethany Convent humbled Regina Martyrum, Assolna 3-0. Hansel Oliveira, Asmon Viegas and Leo Gomendes scored a goal each for the winners.
In the round one Group A matches, Fr Agnel High School, Pilar blanked Kendriya Vidyala, Bambolim 3-0. Myron Vaz scored a brace while Kendriya Vidyala netted a own goal.
Perpetual Succour Convent School, Navelim defeated St Thomas High School, Cansaulim 4-3 via tie-breaker after the match ended in a 0-0 draw at regulation time. In the penalty shootout, Elroy Fernandes, Meahan Fernandes, Clareson Fernandes and Sam Pereira were on target for Perpetual Succour Convent while Tejas, Esbeen Sequeira and Roger Soares netted for St Thomas High School.
St. Xavier’s, Moira pipped Marina English High School, Verna 1-0. The all-important goal was scored by Sidesh Morajkar.
Regina Martyrum, Assolna thrashed Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Cortalim 4-0. Sammy Simoes, Joean Simoes and Mesio Pinto netted a goal each while Our Lady of Perpetual Succour scored an own goal.
Marina English High School, Verna scored a solitary goal victory over
Holy Rosary, Nuvem from the efforts of Ashvek Jadhav. Our Lady of Succour, Pax beat St Andrew’s ICSC, Vasco 1-0. Simon Pereira netted the lone goal.
In the second round, Bethany Convent beat Fr. Agnel Pilar 2-0. Leo Gomindes and Asmon Veigas scored. Perpetual Convent, Navelim defeated St Xavier’s, Moira 1-0. Sandesh Redkar netted.
Regina Martyrum, Assolna edged past Marina English High School 4-3 via a tie-breaker.
At regulation time, both the teams settled for a 1-1 draw. Joean Simoes netted for Regina Martyrum while Alan Rodrigues scored for Marina English HS.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Jolen Simoes, Mesio Pinto and Joean Simoes were on target for Regina Martyrum while Vvyron Silva and Alan scored.
Manovikas English High School, Margao lost to Our Lady of Succour, Pax 0-1 vie tie-breaker after both the failed to open an account in the regulation time.
In the quarter-finals, Bethany Covent blanked St Xavier’s, Moira 3-0 to book semi-final berth. Leo Gomendes scored a brace while Aryan Carvalho scored one.
Regina Martyrym, Assolna blanked Our Lady of Succorro High School, Pax 2-0.
Later in the semi-final, Bethany Convent outplayed Regina Martyrum 3-0. Hansel Oliveira, Asmon Veigas and Leo Gomendes were the scorers.
