PANJIM: WGM?Bhakti Kulkarni clinched the silver medal as the Indian team finished second in mixed rapid chess in Asian Indoor Games in Inchion, South Korea, Thursday.
The Chinese team picked up the gold while the Vietnamese team finished third .
The Indian team consisted of GM Sethuraman, GM Deep Sengupta, WGM Meenakshi and WGM Bhakti Kulkarni.
Bhakti single handedly snatched victory in the preliminaries when the Indian team was facing defeat. In the fifth round of the preliminaries against Philippines, Indian needed a win after GM Sethuraman lost to GM Oliver Barbosa. WGM Meenakshi and GM Deep Sengupta tried hard but could only settle for a draw in their respective matches as Indian were facing elimination in the preliminaries. Bhakti was playing against Janelle Mae Frena and the Goan girl responded well to the situation and turned the tables on Janelle.
