PANJIM: Arjuna awardee and woman Grandmaster Bhakti Kulkarni won the Pilsen International Open Chess Tournament in the Czech Republic on Saturday.
Arjuna awardee and woman Grandmaster Bhakti Kulkarni from Madgaon won the Pilsen International Open Chess Tournament in the Czech Republic today. Bhakti is the first woman to win an Open tournament in the history of Czechtour tournaments, informed

Bhakti, The Olympiad medalist from Goa went undefeated for all nine rounds and scored 7 wins and two draws in her first major swiss league tournament this year. “I got my confidence back with this win,” said the Goan girl. Bhakti outdistanced the field by a full point.
The field consisted of 91 players from 19 countries and Bhakti’s performance is important as she is provisionally selected for the Asian Games to be held in China in September later this year.
Goa Chess Ad-hoc Committee congratulated Bhakti Kulkarni on her winning.
Bhakti informed she will return to India in the next week.
