PANJIM: WGM Bhakti Kulkarni and WIM Ivana Furtado won their fourth round matches in 40th National Women Premier Chess championship in Kolkata, Thursday. They are both on two points each.
Ivana outplayed top seeded IM Tania Sachdeva of Air India as she forced her opponent to resign after 31 moves. She will play take on WFM G K Monisha of Tamil Nadu in the fifth round.
After suffering two defeats in the previous rounds, Bhakti thumped IM Nisha Mohata of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board her round four match. She will play against WGM Mary Gomes of West Bengal in the fifth round, on Friday.
