CURTORIM: Bhatti blanked Virabhat 2- to move into the semi-finals of the 4th Jose and Franky memorial inter-ward football tournament, at St Alex church ground, Curtorim, on Friday.
In an close encounter both the teams were trying to score but Bhatti scored the first goal of the match in 23rd minute through Vincy Dias’ curler after receiving pass from James Fernandes but the joy was short-lived as within four minutes Virabhat equalised through Joseph Fernandes’ shot off a corner kick taken by Nelson.
In second half, Virabhat missed a golden chance to score through Jose but the latter’s shot hit the crossbar of Bhati.
It was Bhatti who scored the match winner through Marcus Pexieto’s power-packed shot after receiving pass from James in the 49th minute.
Virabhat tried their best till the end but the Bhatti defence stood tall.
