Bidesh XI register hard fought win over Pilerne SC

MAPUSA: Bidesh XI registered a hard fought 2-0 win over Pilerne Sports Club to get their first win in the GFA’s 2nd Division league, at Duler Stadium here, on Wednesday.
In a keenly contested encounter both the goals came in the second session for Bidesh XI through Sahil Parwar and Saish Kavlekar.
Bidesh XI having lost their opening match looked a different unit as they showed more urgency in their attack and were unlucky not to be ahead when Vinayak Rane’s header and Gauresh Bugde’s shot just missed the target narrowly
At the other hand things got worse for Pilerne as they were reduced to ten men in the 29th minute with the sending off their keeper Krupesh Bandodkar for a dangerous foul on Faheez Mahammad outside the penalty box.
Pilerne had the best chance of taking the lead in the 42nd minute when Anson De Souza through pass found Sanket Jotkar whose low grounder was cleared off the goal line by  Vijet Salgaonkar.
In the closing minutes of the first half, Bidesh XI Faheez defense splitting pass found Pranav Gaonkar who was disposed by Pilerne’s substitute keeper Siddhart in a one to one situation.
Despite being down by a man, Pilerne put a up a brave fight and nearly opened the scoring on resumption of second half when a long ball by Chaitan Dabholkar found Sanket Jotkar who cleverly tried to dink the ball over the advancing Bidesh XI keeper Ritesh.
Bidesh XI finally managed to break the deadlock when substitute Sahil Parwar’s long range from 40-yards out nestled into the net.
Pilerne tried to get back into the match but Bidesh XI sealed the win with the second goal in the 86th minute when Saish Kavlekar getting hold off a pass from Saahil Bugde outsmarted a couple of defenders and beat the keeper with a neat placement, 2-0
Pilerne almost scored a consolation goal in the dying minutes of the match but Sanket`s firm header from a corner kick taken by Chaitan was acrobatically tipped over for a corner by keeper Ritesh.
