MAPUSA: Bidesh XI enhanced their chances for the play-off with a well deserved 3-0 win over Cunchelim Sports Club in the seventh round league match of the GFA’s 2nd Division, at Duler stadium, here, on Wednesday.
It was a much needed win for Bidesh XI as they moved to 15 points while Cunchelim remain in the relegation zone with 5 points
Bidesh XI were leading 1-0 at half time with a goal coming from Shubham while crossing ends Vinayak got a brace to seal the full three points.
In the 14th minute a well taken free-kick by Harshad was kept out by Cunchelim keeper Siraj.
Bidesh XI kept probing their opponents goal but were let down by some poor finishing as Faheez and Shubham could not get their shots past the Cunchelim keeper Siraj during the 30th and 31st minutes.
Shubham finally managed to hit the back of the net in the 35th minute with a deft placement after being put through by Chandan with a clever pass to give his side the lead.
Cunchelim who were pedestrian for most part of the match scuffed a golden chance of getting back on level terms in the 39th minute when Ganesh who was released by Rama with a through pass was brilliantly denied by on alert Bidesh XI keeper Ritesh before the ball could bulge into the net.
Shubham should have got his second goal in the 60th minute for Bidesh XI but he dragged his shot wide of the mark from close range after being teed by Faheez.
It needed the intervention of substitute Vinayak to seal the match and full three points for Bidesh XI as he scored two goals in the 74th minute and 83rd with Chandan providing the ammunition on both the occasions to make it 3-0.
In another match at Agassaim ground, Nauxim Sports Club recorded a solitary goal win over FC Mardol. Sachin Mardolkar scored the all-important goal for Nauxim in the 52nd minute.
