MAPUSA: Calangute Association scored a thumping 4-0 win over Penha de Franca Sports Club to move ahead in the 7th Rusi Daver Cup Football tournament, organized by Adarsh Yuvak Sangh, at Saligao ground, on Friday. The winners went into the breather with a two goal cushion.
Deep Govekar put Calangute into the lead in the 10th minute as his powerful strike landed into the far corner of the Penha de Franca SC goal.
After several missed chances, Charles Cardoz put Calangute ahead by two goal when his free-kick from outside the 18-yard box curled its way into the goal.
Crossing over, Calangute continued from where they had left with Anand Kerkar making it 3-0 from inside the danger zone on being set up by Aniket.
Minutes before the final whistle, Joaquim Gonsalves sealed the fate of the match in favour of Calangute with a long range effort.
