Big win for Tamil Nadu; Bihar edge past WIFA

MAPUSA: Tamil Nadu started their campaign in the Junior Girls National Football Championship, with a thumping 9-1 win over Madhya Pradesh played at Duler stadium, here on Monday.

In the morning match, it was Chennai’s striker Santhiya N.V. who did most of the damage as she hammered four goals, while Mariyammal B netted a hat-trick. 
Priyadharshini S. and Minnoliya S added their names to the scorers list.
Madhya Pradesh’s Uma Evnati managed to score a consolation goal.
In the evening match, Bihar struggled before they finally got the better of WIFA (Maharashtra) 2-1.
The teams played almost on equally footing in the first 30 minutes of the match.
 However, with the exit of Aishwarya Jagtop (striker) and Ritika Govas (midfielder) Maharashtra received a jolt and saw their opponents net in two quick goals.
In the 31st minute, Bihar’s Karishma Kumari scored from outside the penalty box while two minutes later, Pallavi Goswami tapped the ball into the goal after WIFA keeper Riya Tank fumbled with her collection to make it 2-0.
On crossing ends, WIFA tried to get back into the match with Kanksha Kandalkar scoring from the penalty spot, after Bihar’s Sadhana Kumari had brought down Tricia Collaco inside the penalty box to make it 2-1.
