Hosts BITS Pilani will take on SSN Chennai in the finals of cricket tournament at the 4-day National festival ‘Spree’ on Wednesday.
BITS made their way into the finals defeating MITM Indore by 148 runs.
Though, BITS lost both openers at an early stage while bating first, an attacking display by Shiv Sharma 70 off 42 balls (3 sixes and 8 fours) and Himanshu Yadav’s swashbuckling innings of 56 off 16 balls (4 sixes and 6 fours) along with captain Aditya Agarwal’s 18 off 8 balls made BITS Pilani to set a high target for MITM.
In reply, MITM Indore were bundled out for 49 in 10.3 overs, with deadly spell from Piyush Kaslikar for four wickets and Pushkar who finished with three wickets.
In another semi-final, SSN Chennai defeated NIT Trichy by four wickets.
SSN Chennai restricted NIT Trichy to 84 for 9 in 20 overs, while Srivatsan scored an unbeaten 21 along with Vinoth 17. Vijay Govind took four wickets for Chennai.
Chennai reached the target in 18 overs, losing six wickets. Anand Kumar scored 36 off 28 balls, while Balaji Raman took three wickets.
The former Indian spinner Venkatapahty Raju will be the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony on Wednesday. BCCI match referee Youraj Singh will be the guest of honor. Prof. B. N Jain, vice-chancellor BITS Pilani will also be present.
