Black flags, banners flashed

MARGAO: The FC Goa clash against NorthEast also attracted agitators who were seen along with fans sporting black clothing during the match played at Fatorda stadium on Wednesday.

The agitators displayed black flags in the stadium to express their anguish over the State machinery’s probe into Father Bismarques death.
The strong police force prevented some of the agitators wearing black clothing and black flags from entering the stadium. But somehow two banners were raised in prominent spots in the stadium by the agitators demanding justice for late Father Bismarque. The banners had words written ‘Father we are with you’. While some of the other banners displayed around the stadium had words “Justice For Father Bismarque’. The police were quick to react and snatched away the banners as soon as it was seen on Television. The protesting fans somehow sneaked in another banner and raised it during the half time.
Kennedy Afonso, who is spearheading the movement in South Goa questioned the cops for snatching the banners and strongly protested against the police action.
“The government and the authorities do not want our voices to reach outside the State and reach to the people and hence they are trying to suppress us at the source,” informed Kennedy.
“I was happy as well as surprised to see many coming in black clothes in support of the cause,” added Kennedy.
