MARGAO: BMC edged past RX, Sarzora1-0 to cruise into the semi-finals of the all-Goa Sucaldem Cup football tournament, organized by Sucaldem Youth Club, at the Sucaldem ground, Chinchinim, on Tuesday.
BMC held the upper hand in the opening session and called the shots against the rival goal. Their efforts bore fruit midway in the opening session when Piedade Rebello punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Stung by the setback, RX Sarzora went into attack but the rival defenders were alert to diffuse the threats.
Crossing over, BMC continued to enjoy the lion’s share of exchanges and fired couple of pots shots against the rival goal which failed to yield any success.
With time running out, RX Sarzora went all out in search of the equalizer but failed to get past the rival defence.
In the other quarter-final match, Dangerous Boys, Nessai overcame Fr Agnel Boys, Cuncolim 1-0. The all-important goal was scored by Lino Colaco in the second half.
