MARGAO: A first half strike by striker Christopher Borges helped host St Sebastiao Youth Club, Fatorda overcome St Anthony’s Sports Club, Assolda 1-0 and storm into the semi-finals of All-Goa St Sebastiao inter-village football tournament, organized by St Sebastiao Youth Club, at Don Bosco Engineering ground, Fatorda, on Thursday.
Both the teams adopted an aggressive approach and kept the crowd on their toes.
After couple of misses by St Sebastiao forwards in the initial period, the team put their act together and broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Christopher Borges unleashed a stiff grounder which crashed into the net.
Post resumption, St Anthony’s Sports Club put up a better display and fired couple of salvos against the rival goal but without success.
Host St Sebastiao had couple of scoring chances but their forwards were guilty of missing numerous sitters.
