MAPUSA: Brothers of Orda registered a fluent 3-1 win over Murod Boys to advance into the quarter-finals of the Friends Circle Soccer Cup, at Dr. Gustavo ground, Candolim, on Monday.
Both the teams played on equal footing in the first quarter of the match.
However in the 18th minute, Brothers of Orda forged ahead when Devendra Pednekar’s strike had no answer from Murod keeper Gauresh Shirodkar to make it 1-0.
Orda further extended their lead in the 38th minute when Joel Fernandes dribbling past a host of rival defenders scored with a neat placement to make it 2-0.
It did not take long for Orda to make it 3-0 with Joel Fernandes netting his brace as he connected a cross from Devendra.
Never say die spirit, saw Murod Boys pull a goal back in the 47th minute with Harish Bagkar tapping the ball into the nets off a cross from Nehal Naik.
Murod Boys tried their level best get back into the game but failed with their attempts.
