BENAULIM: CAC Cansaulim blanked St Sebastian Union Club, Benaulim 2-0 to enter the semi-finals of 4th St Sebastian trophy football tournament played at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Monday.
CAC Cansaulim were leading 1-0 at the break.
Both teams went all out displaying an excellent sporting action.
However, it was CAC Cansaulim who took the lead in the 16th minute when Bryan Diniz collected a through pass in the rival defence and laid to Melcom Dias, whose strike gave no chance to the rival keeper.
Thereafter, St Sebastian Union Club tried to find the equaliser and came close in the 15th minute but Kenneth Fernandes’ shot missed the target by whiskers.
After the change of ends, the teams began afresh, creating opening in each ones citadel.
St Sebastian’s Vishal Fernandes tried two excellent moves in the 45th and 60th minutes, much to his dismay both efforts kissed the crossbar.
CAC Cansaulim doubled the lead in the 62th minute through Jovet Barreto off Conceo Soares assist.
