PANJIM: S. Caculo College defeated Salgaocar Law College, Miramar by 41 runs in the first semi-final while GVM’s Ponda defeated Don Bosco College, Panjim by 34 runs in the second semi-finals of the inter-collegiate cricket championship for men organised by Goa University, at University grounds on Monday.
Put in to bat first, Caculo scored 146 for five wickets in 20 overs. Snehal Kauthankar 34, Achit Shigwan 45, Laksay Garg 33 and Prathamesh Gawas 11 were the major contributors with the bat.
Siddhesh Gohankar 2/9 was the most successful bowler for Salgaocar.
In reply, Salgaocar could make only 105 in 19.2 overs. Kyle Ticlo 13, Viraj Pandit 31, Deepesh Shetkar 24 and Sachit Manshor 11 batted well. Siddhesh Govekar 2/24, Akshay Gadekar 2/13, Achit Shigwan 2/16 and Vaman Parab 3/24 were the top bowlers for Caculo College.
In the other semis, GVM won the toss and elected to bat and scored 165 for 5 in 20 overs.
U. Maechiah 31, Srinivas Phadte 91 and Mukund Bandodkar 27 contributed with the bat. Mithun Gawas 2/22 was the successful bowler for Don Bosco.
Don Bosco were bowled out for 131 in 19.3 overs. Bhavesh Haldankar 24, Atish Sawant 11, Mithun Gawas 11, Ajinkya Kurtarkar 17, Akshay Chopdekar 17, Nitish Raikar 26 were the top batsman. For GVM Srinivas Phadte 3/21 and Tushar Gaude 2/24 were the pick of the bowlers.
S Caculo College, Mapusa will play GVM’s College, Ponda in the finals.
