MAPUSA: Calangute Association drubbed Goa Velha Sports Club by 4-0 margin to enter the quarter-final of the Vagator Soccer 2018 (UK Cup), organised by Vagator PYSC, at Vagator Ozran ground, on Tuesday.
Calangute went into the breather with a one goal cushion. In the 19th minute Vaichel Vaigankar controlled a pass from Pedro Gonsalves and shot at the goal which hit the rival defender Prasil Kanolkar as the ball rolled into the goal to give the lead.
Calangute lost a glorious chance to further increase their lead but Runal Shirodkar strike landed into the waiting hands of the keeper.
On crossing ends, Goa Velha did try to get back into the match, but the last line of Calangute defence failed to score.
While Goa Velha failed to score Calangute extended their lead in the 39th minute with Pedro Gonsalves scored with an adroit placement.
As the match progressed, Calangute pumped in two more goals through Anand Kerkar and Dominic Fernandes.
Aiken Dias received the man-of-the-match award.
