MAPUSA: Calangute Association registered a well deserved 3-1 win over Raia Sporting Club to advance in the Calangute Panchayat Soccer Cup, organised by Calangute Association, at Poriat ground, on Friday.
In the third minute of play, Calangute surged ahead when Vithal Vaigankar got hold of a pass from Velton Lobo and scored with a neat placement to give his team the lead.
It did not take long for Raia Sporting to level terms as Llyod Cardozo scored from close quarters.
On crossing over, the Calangute colts carried on their onslaught and hammered two more goals with Runal Shirodkar collecting a pass in the midfield and set up Pedro Gonsalves who shot low on entering the penalty box to make 2-1.
In the closing stages of the match, Dominic Fernandes did the spadework where Runal Shirodkar guided the ball into the goal to make it 3-1.
