CALANGUTE: A fine brace by Alber Gonsalves helped strong contenders Calangute Association to defeat Nerul Sports Club 2-0 and move into the quarter-finals of Parra Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organised by PVC Association, Parra at PVC ground, Parra, Saturday.
Calangute dominated the first session and scored through Alber Gonsalves in the 25th minute.
Down by a goal, Nerul exerted pressure on Calangute and came close to scoring but Mukund shot into the waiting hands of the keeper.
Alber Gonsalves increased the lead in the 60th minute.
Nerul came close to scoring in the dying minutes but Prasad shotwide with only the keeper at his mercy.
Alber Gonsalves was declared man-of-the-match.
