Calangute edge past Sangolda lakhanpal soccer

Calangute Association got the better of Sangolda Lightning 2-1 to move into quarter- finals of Novino Lakhanpal Gold Cup inter-village football tournament, organised by Candolim Sports Club, at Dr Gustavo Montiero Stadium, on Wednesday.
Dominating the initial proceedings, Sangolda took the lead through Melvyn.  Down by a goal, Calangute fought back to restore parity but a goal eluded them till the breather.
Changing over, Calangute dominated the proceedings and equalised through Francisco Fernandes. With scores level, Calangute fought well and snatched the winner through Cliff Fernandes. Down 1-2, Sangolda mounted pressure on Calangute defence but failed to score.
