Calangute Association defeated Sporting Club de Davorlim 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of 16th Nerul Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament at Nerul grounds on Tuesday.
In an exciting match, both teams played entertaining soccer winning the hearts of the spectators.
It was Calangute Association who shot into the lead in the 15th minute through Pedro Gonsalves off a Russel cross to make it 1-0.
Down by a goal, Davorlim tried to draw level but their forwards were off target.
Finally, Davorlim managed to restore parity in the 28th minute through a Milagres header off an Edwin pass.
On changing ends, Calangute Association regain the lead through Francisco Fernandes.
Davorlim tried their level best to come back on level terms but tries from Edwin, Milagres failed to find the mark.
Calangute Association had a golden opportunity to seal the match in the 26th minute but a Sherwin Lobo try hit the crossbar and went out.
Calangute Association will now take on Sangolda Lightning in the first semi-final on June 18.
