Cameroon Boys, Dare Devils clinch Inter-Seraulim titles

RAIA: Cameroon Boys, Seraulim, got the better of Active Youth, Soccobhatt Per Seraulim, 3-2 in an exciting Inter-Seraulim U-12 boys football tournament organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim at the church ground, Seraulim, recently.

The game started at a very fast pace with both teams trying to score as early as possible. It was Cameroon Boys who opened the account through their star striker Mark D’Costa in the 5th minute when he beautifully placed the ball in the far corner of the net after receiving a defence splitting pass from Newzel Fernandes. 

Hardly had the cheers finished celebrating the goal, Cameroon Boys scored their second goal through Sean Fernandes when he ran down the left flank and nicely placed the ball from the advancing goalkeeper. 

At half time, the score read 2-0 in favour of Cameroon Boys. The second half saw Active Youth taking possession of the ball and were in complete control in search of a goal. Their efforts bore fruits when Ashton dribbled a couple of defenders and smartly placed the ball in the far corner of the net to make it 2-1. 

Soon, Cameroon Boys during the run of play scored their third goal through Samrath to increase the lead 3-1. Active Youth with a never say die attitude kept the pressure on and scored once again through Aditya Ray to take the score to 3-2. Thereafter, it was all Active Youth trying to find the equaliser but the Cameroon Boys stayed strong in the defence and did not allow the strikers to penetrate and kept the score 3-2 to emerge champions.

In the second women Inter-Seraulim football match, Dare Devils proved to be better shooters in the penalty shootout by defeating Football Fanatics 2-0. In the penalty shootout Lucrencia Gomes and Annalisa scored for Dare Devils. For Football Fanatics both the penalty kicks of Matty Vaz and Espy Gomes were saved by Dare Devils Keeper Siona Fernandes.

Credit has to be given to both keepers Genevieve Coutinho and Siona Fetnandes for not conceiving a single goal in the final and indeed brought in many saves to prevent a tennis score.
