MARGAO: Cana Benaulim Sporting Association downed Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda 2-0 to cruise into the semi-final of All-Goa Seafarers Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Navelim Sporting Club at Rosary Ground, Navelim on Friday. Cana led 1-0 at half time.
Cana held the upper hand in the opening sessions as their forwards swarmed all over the rival territory but their forwards troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. Cana’s breakthrough came in the 10th minute when Paulino D’Silva bulged the net.
Spurred by the early success, Cana intensified their attacks but near misses by their forwards prevented them from increasing the tally. At the other end, Don Bosco tried their best to neutralized the lead but failed to get past the rival rearguard.
Post resumption, Cana continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and their forwards fired a couple of pot shots but without success in the initial period of the second stanza.
Don Bosco made concerted efforts to neutralized the lead but rival defenders stood tall in protecting the slender lead.
Cana scored the insurance goal in the 35th minute when Jaison Pereira slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot.
