Candolim SC beat St Anthony’s SC Marna by solitary goal

MAPUSA: Candolim Sport Club registered a solitary goal victory over St. Anthony’s Sports Club, Marna in the GFA’s 2nd Division League match played at Poriat ground, Calangute, on Tuesday.
After Tuesday’s encounter both teams remain on six points having won two and lost two matches each.
Saprem Diukar scored the all-important goal for Candolim in the 39th minute by intelligently rounding of the advancing keeper Salil after being put through by Nikhil Naik.
Candolim should have taken the lead in the 22nd minute but Michael Dias spot kick was brilliantly stopped by Marna keeper Salil Chari after Saprem Diukar was fouled by Richard Pereira inside the penalty box.
Candolim kept bombarding their rivals goal where Saprem’s left footer just sailed over the post and then Michael Dias fierce shot was once again stopped by keeper Salil.
Crossing ends, Nehal Naik corner in the 55th minute was well met by Aayesh Tari with a strong header which hit the post and rebounded back into play to Nikhil whose header too hit the goal post.
Claudio Rodrigues almost snatched a point for Marna in the 85th minute but his strike from close range just missed the target by a whisker. sides struggled upfront. 
The score remained 1-0 in favour of Candolim SC till the final whistle.
In the Goa Football Association Third Division League match, Aivao Youth Club and Carambolim Sports Club played out a 1-1 draw, at Taleigao ground.
Carambolim were the one to net in the 19th minute through Mayur Palkar as they led 1-0 at the break.
 Changing ends, Aivao Youth Club fought gallantly and managed to restore parity at the hour mark through Pandurang Gauns.
