MANDREM: Candolim Sports Club defeated Augustias Sports Club in a dramatic tie-breaker, winning 6-5, to advance into the 2nd Rosary Cup Mandrem 2024, held at Mandrem village panchayat ground, Mandrem.
In the 15th minute, Rohan Naik made a crucial save with his head on the goal line for Augustias. Just a minute later, Anford Fernandes opened the scoring for Augustias Sports Club. At halftime, the score stood at 1-0 in favour of Augustias.
In the dying minutes of the match, Saiesh Bagkar scored to level, 1-1, pushing the match into a penalty shootout.
Candolim triumphed in the shootout, winning 6-5.
For Candolim, Bhavesh, Nikhil, Aniket, Rajat, Ashley, and Saish successfully netted their penalties. For Augustias, Raju, Pundalik, Rohan, Umesh, and Bhuvan scored.
Rajat Chopdekar of Candolim was awarded man-of-the-match by Vishnu Narvekar, Dunes Sports Club treasurer.
