GOA VELHA: Candolim Sports Club registered a narrow 2-1 win over Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda, in the 12th London Trophy, organised by Goa Velha Sports Club and played at Goa Velha ground, on Monday.
Candolim Sports Club attacked from the word go and it didn’t take long to show their supremacy as they took a second minute lead when Nikhil Naik played a long through ball to Daphen, who lobbed the ball past the on rushing Fatorda keeper Agnelo Noronha.
DBO struggled to match their opponents as they chased the game for the initial stages
Candolim SC had their chances but they just couldn’t get the final job done.
Crossing ends, the Fatorda team came with renewed ideas however they were dealt with a major blow when Candolim SC consolidated their lead against the run of play through Daphen Rodrigues.
Stunned by the reverse, DBO, Fatorda regrouped quickly and pressed their opponents and showed great fighting spirit to get back into the game and finally managed to reduce the margin through Melvan Furtado.
DBO tried their best to find the equaliser but they just couldn’t get past the strong Candolim SC defence.
