MAPUSA: Candolim SC huffed and puffed before registering a 3-2 win over ABC Arambol in the GFA’s Third Division Bardez Zone play-off round, at Duler stadium, here, on Thursday.
Candolim now face AA de Moira in the semi-final slated for the December 14, at the same venue. It was Candolim who drew the first blood when Carl D’Souza seeing the keeper off his line, lobbed the ball over, which hit the upright before entering the Arambol goal, 1-0.
After a series of missed opportunities, Arambol came with the equalizer when Dietmar Fernandes neatly set up Omkar Satelkar, who made no mistake to fire the ball into the Candolim goal, 1-1. Crossing over, Omkar once again gave Arambol a 2-1 lead.
Six minutes later, Gauresh Shirodkar managed to find the equaliser for Candolim, scoring off a goal mouth melee. It was substitute Nikhil Naik who came with the match winning goal for Candolim in the 75th minute of play when he perfectly positioned himself to tap home Joeliff Simoes cross.
