MAPUSA: Hosts Candolim SC registered a 5-3 win via tie-breaker over Sinquerim Sports Club to enter the final of Candolim Panchayat Cup in the semi-final match played at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, on Tuesday.
The match ended in a goalless draw. It was the visitors Sinquerim SC colts that dominated in the first quarter of the match. Candolim SC striker Bhavesh Kandolkar missed an open sitter with just rival keeper at his mercy.
In the 43rd minute, Sinquerim SC’s Saimesh Gaokar strike travelled just over the horizontal bar. With the match ending in a goalless draw, the penalty shoot-out was enforced where for Candolim SC unit Nikhil Naik, Aniket Naik, Aman Govekar, Ashley Fernandes and Rajat Chopdekar scored on target, while for Sinquerim SC colts Saimesh Gaokar, Sudhesh Naik and Shridharnath Gawas netted in. Candolim SC will now meet United Sports Club of Verna in the final on May 30.
