MAPUSA: Candolim Sports Club registered a solitary goal victory over Raia Sports Club to cruise their way to the quarter-finals of 2nd Goan Heritage Rolling football trophy organized by Calangute Association at Poriat grounds, Calangute, on Tuesday.
There were no much thrills in the first half as both the teams played defensive and tried to protect their citadel.
After a barren first session, Cannute D’Souza broke the deadlock in the 35th minute by skillfully slotting past the onrushing rival custodian.
The away team went all-out in search of the equalizer but Candolim survived the onslaught. Jouston Barbosa of Raia was adjudged man-of-the-match.
Calangute Association will take on PVC Parra is the first quarter-finals on Wednesday.
