PANJIM: Carambolim Sports Club downed Bhagwati Sports Club 2-1 in the Goa Football Association Third Division League at Agassaim ground, on Thursday.
Lawrence Francis put Carambolim SC ahead in the 17th minute of play as his long floater landed in the net with the rival keeper completely misjudging the flight of the ball.
Sigmund Pereira made it 2-0 in favour of Carambolim SC in the 43rd minute as he shot home after the Bhagwati SC keeper failed to collect an initial effort.
Akshay Kuncolienkar reduced the margin for Bhagwati SC in the 72nd minute. Bhagwati SC went all out in search of an equaliser but were denied by the heroics of Kaushik Naik who proved a hard nut to crack in the Carambolim SC goal.
Meanwhile, Portais Sporting Club registered a comfortable 2-1win over Rosarian XI Sports Club at Taleigao ground. Sanjay Tanwar and Max Vincent scored a goal each for the winner while Aaron Cardozo scored for Rosarian XI SC.
