MARGAO: Caribeans Boys, Chandor rallied from behind to trounce Signals Boys, Chandor 6-1 and cruise into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Villa Marex Seamen Trophy football tournament, organized by Villa Marex Boys, Chandor, at Cavorim ground, Chandor, on Friday. Caribeans Boys led 3-1 at the lemon break.
Caribeans Boys dominated the game but it was Signals Boys who took the lead in the 10th minute when striker Ryan slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Undeterred by the setback, Caribeans Boys slowly took over the reins and troubled the rival defence with well-orchestrated raids.
Persistent forays paid off dividends and in the 15th minute Remmy Barretto neutralized the lead.
Spurred by the equalizer, Caribeans Boys intensified their attacks and pushed the rival defence on the back-foot. Vellington Fernandes, who was in thick action scored twice to give his team a 3-1 lead before the break.
Crossing over, Carribeans Boys continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and increased the tally when Mathew Colaco struck twice in quick successions to make it 5-1.
After a brief lull, Carribean Boys got their act together and Remmy added another in the fag end.
