PANJIM: Carmel College, Nuvem got the beter of Rosary College, Navelim 4-2 via the tie-breaker to win the Goa University women’s inter-college football championship, at Taleigao Plateau.
With this win, Carmels successfully defended the title they won last year.
Carmel missed a golden chance in the 30th minute when Alisha Tavares after beating the on rushing Rosary goalkeeper hit the cross bar with her try.
Thereafter, both the teams could not break the deadlock till the end of regular time.
In the tie-breaker, Linda Colada, Vailanka D’Souza, Velanie Fernandes and Lifa Gama scored for Carmels while Jeromina Colaco and Anline Fernandes were successful for Rosary College.
Welvin Menezes, Secretary, Goa Football Association was the chief guest and gave away medals and trophies to the players.
