MAJORDA: Carmona SC defeated St Anthony SC Colva 6-5 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-final of the 18th Fr Basilio Andrade Memorial Football tournament, played at Musson ground, Majorda, on Friday.
Colva’s Jerry Fernandes took a free kick in the 14th minute with the ball was dipping into the Carmona net but the keeper pushed the ball for clearance but at that same time Joel Fernandes of Colva who was prowling in Carmona box took control of the ball and fired a power packed shot which crushed into the Carmona net to open the account for St Anthony SC Colva. Carmona’s Alex Rodrigues levelled terms with shot in the 56th minute.
In the tie-breaker, Carmona SC turned out to be the better shooters.
