PONDA: CDJ Ribandar defeated Don Bosco Oratary, Fatorda 2-0 to enter the semi-finals of 30th all-Goa St Anne’s festival soccer organised by Ponda Footballers, at Animal Husbandry ground Curti, Ponda, on Tuesday.
Shashank Naik’s brace was enough to defeat Don Bosco Oratary, Fatorda.
Ribandar dominated the match as Shashank played brilliantly on the wings. In the 5th minute, Ribandar could have taken the lead as Jayendra Kunkoliekar shot kissed the goalpost.
At other end, Cliff Barreto sent a through ball to Jesmon Soares who had only the keeper to beat but his shot ballooned over.
In the second half, Ribandar started on a positive and Ramesh power shot was punched out while resulted in a corner-kick, Shashank chipped the ball in the goal which opened the account for Ribandar.
Fatorda nearly drew level when Samson headed of a free-kick entered the net but he was declared off-side.
Later, Ramesh sent a through ball to Shashank who dribbled past a defender and placed the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
